A 15th Test Hundred for Joe Root: Twitter reacts.

A swashbuckling 124 off 146 balls for Joe Root put England in pole position going into day 5 of the second Test against Sri Lanka this morning.

Rory Burns had guided the tourists to a steady start, but at 108/3, with a lead of just 62 at that stage England’s captain strolled to the crease off the back of three disappointing innings.

Stokes went for a duck, leaving England 109/4 – a captains knock was needed.

Step forward Joe Root. Going at over 4-and-a-half an over in the second session swung momentum towards the visitors and just over three hours later, the Barmy Army were on their feet, applauding a 15th Test Century from the skipper.
